We know the idea of a home check can cause a fair bit of anxiety, so hopefully this section will put you at ease.
The home check isn’t about judging how tidy, clean, or beautifully-decorated your home is.
It’s about looking for any hazards you might not have spotted before taking your kitty home.
For example, did you know that those fancy Himalayan salt lamps can be fatal if left in licking distance? It’s true, cats love salty things and some of them will lick themselves right into kidney failure if given the chance. So if we spotted one, we could say “you’ll want to put that on a high shelf,” for instance.
Other things we look out for include plants that are toxic to cats, unguarded fireplaces, and gaps you might want to plug up, because no creature on earth can play hide ‘n’ seek better than a cat on its first day in a new home.
Generally speaking, mess isn’t an issue (dragon-level hoarding notwithstanding) so don’t feel like you have to tidy up for us. Just film a video showing us around your home as if we were there. You don’t have to do Through The Keyhole-style narration, but please feel free, because it makes me very happy.
The easiest way to send the video is usually through Facebook Messenger, but we also have WhatsApp, or you can upload it somewhere like Google Drive or Dropbox and email us a link (it’ll be too big to attach to the actual email).
If you have any questions or issues, do get in touch — we’re happy to help.
