Hello! We’re Holly’s Merry Moggies, the rescue for wobbly and disabled cats that was featured on episode 2 of David Baddiel: Cat Man on Channel 4.
We’re a small, independent shelter in Nottingham, but we take cats from all over the country and rehome all over the place, too. We specialise in cats with Cerebellar Hypoplasia, aka wobbly cat syndrome: a condition cats develop in the womb, usually when the mum is unvaccinated and contracts a horrible disease called panleukopenia.
We have 8 cats permanently residing at Moggy Manor (either ones that were too disabled to find homes for, or ones we couldn’t bear to part with!) and a variety of excellent moggies in our cat rooms and at our fosterers’ houses, waiting for their perfect home to come along.
We take the cats that no one else will: the disabled, difficult and different, as we like to say. That includes blind cats, deaf cats, cats with missing eyes or limbs, cats with epilepsy, heart problems and so on. Many of our kitties were facing being put to sleep before they came to us, and we’re very proud of how many we’ve been able to help and home.
